Independent Day & Boarding Schools

Independent Day Schools

Parents considering schools are often attracted by the academic quality and discipline of independent (private) schools, which can create their own academic and admissions standards, challenging curricula, and safe, healthy cultures.

The mid-Atlantic metropolitan areas boast a wealth of excellent independent day schools. We know these schools well, and can make informed recommendations to provide the best match with your son or daughter’s academic and extra-curricular needs and interests. As members of IECA, a national network, we can also assist parents with independent day school choices in other parts of the country.

As described by The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), a boarding school is a college preparatory institution where students and teachers live together in a safe and secure campus environment. Academic excellence is part of the boarding school tradition; boarding school students typically spend twice as much time doing homework as their public school counterparts. Many boarding schools also provide learning support for students, if necessary. Boarding schools provide a wide range of extracurricular activities and an enriched culture of learning beyond the classroom. With the right match, a boarding school encourages achievement, individual responsibility and personal growth.

Every boarding school has its own unique mission and personality. We have visited literally hundreds of boarding schools across the country (see Schools/Programs Visited) That knowledge, together with the information we gather during our meetings with you and your son or daughter, enables us to provide sound recommendations for an appropriate boarding school choice.
