Ruby joined Dobson Educational Services as an educational consultant in 2008 bringing with her the unique perspective of 20 years’ experience in the mental health field as a registered occupational therapist. In that capacity, she conducted individual evaluations, treatment planning and group therapy – and developed, coordinated and implemented a diverse range of therapeutic treatment programs.
Ruby’s extensive experience in the therapeutic field provides an excellent complement to Jody’s background in education. As a therapist, Ruby brings sensitivity and empathy to her clients’ needs, qualities essential for an educational consultant. She has worked with adults and children, including those with special needs, learning disabilities and psychiatric issues. During the course of her work, Ruby also acquired considerable expertise in the fields of addiction and autism spectrum disorders.
Ruby’s broad experience, career skills, empathy and perception have made her particularly adept at assessing her clients’ needs and developing informed educational and therapeutic recommendations. Her assessment and placement services cover a wide range of options, including day and boarding schools, programs for special learning needs and therapeutic programs of all kinds.
She is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP), the Aspen Asperger Syndrome Education Network and the Little Silver Friends of Different Learners Parent Association.
Ruby graduated Magna cum Laude from Boston University’s College of Health and Rehabilitation Services: Sargent College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She began her career as an occupational therapist at San Francisco General Hospital. She then served as Director of Vocational Services and Coordinator of the Day Hospital Group Program at The Massachusetts Mental Health Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Most recently, she worked as a psychiatric occupational therapist at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey.

Ruby continues to pursue her education in a variety of areas to enhance the services she provides her clients. These include courses and seminars on educational consulting, Autism Spectrum Disorders, social skills training, learning differences, advocacy, behavior strategies (both at home and in the classroom), transition planning and inclusive occupational therapy in the classroom.
